Marie R. Paul Saint-Juste, also known as Rosie, grew up in Liancourt, Haiti and learned about animals as well as plants and their benefits on her family's farm. She went on to study chemistry in New York where, after struggling with acne, she decided to use the old techniques passed down by the women of her family to make use of plants and their medicinal properties. In her small Brooklyn apartment, she created mixtures with botanicals using chemistry to create her own acne remedies. Aware of the need to relieve and improve the skin problems affecting many people in her community, she created her first skincare product made with papaya.

Today, Marie R. Paul St-Juste's company creates and distributes a complete collection of beauty products known as Essence de Beauté, with the aim of helping everyone feel more attractive and good about themselves, and improve their confidence.
