How to prep skin for flawless makeup!

Whether you like a "no makeup" makeup look, soft glam, full glam or anything in between, prepping your skin for makeup application is key!

We know a lot of our customers are beauty fans, and that one of the ways you practice self love is through makeup! Makeup can be a creative and expressive way for us to uplift and empower ourselves. All the best makeup looks start with some skin prep. We often tend to forget that to get the “perfect look” you also need to prepare your face for makeup in the right way. Below, we've detailed the 4 key steps to achieving the perfect base for makeup, and recommended the best products for every skin type that you should be using in your skin prep routine— and many of them are in our #SelfLove sale. Step 1. Cleanse/Exfoliate: Start with freshly cleansed skin, and if necessary, exfoliate for a smooth finish.
Step 2. Hydrate: Use a moisturizer to rehydrate and plump the skin. Allow the product to sink into the skin fully before continuing on to the next step.
Step 3. Prime: Once your moisturizer has been properly worked into the skin, a primer is a must to be sure your makeup stays in place! Primers can be hydrating, shine-free, pore-reducing or even color-correcting.
Step 4. Massage: Regardless of how many steps are involved in the skin prep routine, the key is how well they are worked into the skin. Make it a spa-like experience with a nice massage! The most important tip is to refrain from applying the makeup on top of products that are not fully absorbed into the skin. Be patient— flawless skin and makeup take time.
