When creating this look, you’ll most likely want to have your edges laid for a sleek-looking ‘fo-hawk’ - the people's choice? Our Eco Styler Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil Gel. Eco Styler has struck again with its Flaxseed & Black Castor oil gel formula that’s super lightweight while providing mega hold for even the most unruly of curls. Creating this hairstyle is oh-so simple, no matter which method you choose. If you choose to create the style using your natural hair, all you’d need to do is apply a bit of gel along the sides of your hair, brush it back/upwards, and tie your hair up in about 2-4 sections to create the “mohawk” effect. From there, you can style however you like - either by using perm rods or just letting your natural curls flourish. If you choose to use perm rods, create smaller sections within your already-tied back large sections of hair, spray with a bit of water to dampen the hair, wrap those small sections around the perm rod, and then hook the end of your rod shut to secure it in place. Repeat until you’ve completed all sections (depending on big or small you want your curls to be, you may end up with around 10-30 small perm rods). You can either sit under a hooded dryer for about an hour or two to speed up the drying process, or let it air-dry for a few hours during the day or overnight. After it’s completely dried, unravel the perm rods one by one (you can choose to add a small amount of oil when you unravel for extra shine) fluff, and you’re set!
A similar method applies if you were to add extensions in the mix. Simply add the clips along the weft of your weave and clip along sections of your hair. You’ll most likely only need one pack of hair if you’re just adding length. Once that’s done, tie your hair into a couple large sections of hair, fluff out and go! If you want to go the extra mile for this style for a more natural look and/or added flare, you can cornrow along the sides of your hair to blend in more with the extensions when you tie up your hair in the large sections. And Voila! You’re good to go.
There are many different methods you can use to achieve our ‘Fierce Fohawk’ look, but whichever you choose, we want to make sure you have only the best beauty tools we have to offer for you to be Carnival Ready for the road!
